Also called Bradbury's Bee Balm, this USA native Monarda is shorter and more compact than the popular classic prairie plant Monarda fistulosa, or Wild Bergamot.
Monarda bradburiana grows to a height of 1 to 2 ft (30 to 60 cm). The pink flowers usually bloom in late spring and early summer.
Monarda bradburiana is native to central and southeastern United States where it is found in the states of Alabama, Arkansas, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Missouri, Oklahoma, Tennessee and Texas. Its typical habitat is thickets, woodland edges, grassland and roadsides.
Bee Balm are an ideal food for pollinators, and especially humming birds! Each flower is comprised of multiple long tubular flowers that easily hold nectar. Bee Balm plants are easy to grow, and are not fussy.
